June 27, 2007

Gordon_2British politics enters a new era today when Tony Blair moves out of No 10 and new Labour leader Gordon Brown moves in.

The former Chancellor says the NHS, schools and child poverty will be high on his list of priorities. He has also promised to be more inclusive and empower the people.

But what else should he be focusing on? What do you see as the key challenges facing the UK today?

And what's your impression of Gordon Brown since he took over as Labour leader? Will he make a better PM than Tony Blair? What are your messages for the new man at the top?

The government does not provide adequate assistance for less fortunate members of the community.Trysearching for a solicetor that provides legal aid and specialises in Pension Credit.CitizensAdvise only get funding for one specilist.I have to survive on £72.90 a week MR.Brown.

People in this country who have paid tax during their working life and also N.H.I. contributions are put on the back burned or disbelieved when in genuine need. This is a small country its become overcrowded our hospitals and resourses are at breaking point.yetpeople still flood in

It is time that the pensioners and disabled people were also on that poverty list.
They keep getting letters telling them their entitlements. Trying to get an entitlement though turns out to be a totally different matter.

Mr Brown, is it fair for the Home Office/British Embassy to deny my daughter a VISITIG visa from Nigeria? This is a lady who is in the Unviersity and only wanted to come for a visit but she was denied because the Home Office said she will not return back to Nigeria.I am a British citizen and it is so annoying aspect is that while lots of people came to Britain claiming assylum genue individuals were denied and as a health professional that is contributing to the upliftment of the health care delvery of this Country, My family should be allowed to visit. I hope you read this message and respond.

So you want to "re-engage" the electorate and "rebuild faith" in politics? Easy, start serving the PEOPLE, nor ruling them. FOUR years maximum for a government then a compulsory election, much less for councils. CAP council tax to the rate of inflation, I am sick and tired of 5%+ increases and NO police to be seen!

PR NOW please, then the democradtic (that's a laugh)votes of the British public are reflected in Parliament!

YOu can fool some of the people some of the time but not all of the time. You need to take sides on this immigration issue and not sit on the fence. Whichever side you take, if people dont like it then they are free to leave. It seems at the moment the government is on the side of mass immigration ans thus, the people that don't like it are moving to other countries who have a stricter policy on immigration. FFS my colleage at work (who is british born and of indian descent) says "There's far too many foreigners here, they don't treat this as their home and take the mick" - It's not a race issue, it's an economic, social and political issue that is driving away hundreds of thoudands of hardworking people. This will continue until such a point that the hardlineers and their families that stay become the minority. Economic, social and spititual damage, will become the norm at the expense of current idiotic policies towards immigration.

Why do you think it is ok to treat English Nurses with contempt? Why are we worth less than Scottish, Welsh, or Irish Nurses? As a Scot, this makes you look very biased and prejudiced personally.
As an RCN member, I will accept nothing less than parity with the rest of the UK Nurses regarding wages. No deals short of that will interest me.

ok so here it is, YOUR main job as prime minister is to SERVE not RULE the british public. now i want to join europe but i can clearly see the majority dont want to so the least you can do is cut the crap and tell us what it really is and let the referendum go ahead. secondly have some bloody guts when it comes to crime, c'mon stop lying to us and yourself about how safe it is [your stats are wrong], YOU dont live on a typical council estate and you never will and guess what, its like a warzone friday and saturday nights, on the street. other days are still bad the least you can do is cut red tape and let local police do what they gotta do. no more targets, bring in zero tolerance, park police cars outside local drug dealers, make it 3 strikes and you serve LIFE, and when you serve jail there should be no playstations and tv's. there in for life so they dont need rehabilitation, losers, lock them in isolation at night and make them work during the day doing chained up workoutside jail. if you think this is against their rights, WHY? they threw there rights away when they mugged grannies or sold smack to kids.
thirdly, what are you doing with immigration, i dont think people minded too much until you let too many in and they have now undercut all our pay [were a £5.50ph nation now], and let them have everything before us, and as i say stop lying to yourself and belive all the stupid statistics, try phoning a few places for yourself in your spare time to see how it works. if your male, white and not gay we have the least amount of rights in the uk. mmaybe not on paper but in action we get discriminated against all the time- just check some tv adverts saying women get cheaper car insurance for example, whats all that about, it would be a different story if we offered white people cheaper insurance than say black people- but thats exactly what it is.
as for the war on terror, i agree with it and i think maybe if you TELL people what it is rather than say security and terror then we might back it. tell them the truth that the world is changeing and needs some PROPER work doing as a globe, tell people worst case scenarios if we dont do nothing, might sound bad but its better than painting a rosey picture like your doing now, no wonder people are anti war- they dont know the facts, to them its us vs muslims and to grab the oil, [oil a little true but ah well].
lastly sort out human rights act and have some bottle to do the RIGHT thing, and be honest, it would be great to have the goverment give itself a little self critism nown again, it would make you more human. i know your not going to take one word of this in mind, i dont even think you'l read this and your jobsworth advisors wont show you either but at least a few people can read this and maybe agree [even though there is nothing we can do].
have a nice day!!

Please abandon Tony Blairs one sided stance on Kosovo.
The new democratic Serbia needs Britains support. This means respecting Serbias internationally recognized borders. Show them that democracy is the right path. The Kosavar Albanians need to learn to live with the Serbs, not threaten violence if their goals of independence are not realised. Britain must condemn terrorism every where, not just in Britain.

Am not into politics, but when you look at when the Tories messed up, it's a blip compared to the mass sleeze, lies, War, Tax, NHS failures, Transport, eccesive laws that hit the innocent and pretect evil The Human Righs Act. burocracy and worst Immigrants. In fact a government foriegners before it's own. The Tories were a godsend compared to this bunch. Plus they defended their people and country as I'm sure the libdems would.
Our Country need a massive shakeup. Back to the way it was.

The labour party are destroying this country when can we have a goverment that puts British people first Gorden Brown is a disaster for this country

Im tired of paying into 'the system' every month when I get paid and whenever I spend money. I'm also tired of getting absolutely nothing back for it. We people need to make a stand right now because good hard working brits are basically being bullied.

HI there priminister,
I do hope that there could be a general election in the autum. So we hear, i think you should go for it and the torie leadership what the way forward is for britain.

Let not the british people forget aboutthe dark ages of thatcherism britain. The future bright the future is labour.
good luck..:)

Would just like to know why the Prime Minister feels that the police services around the country are not doing their jobs and feel they need a pay cut?
Police are reaching every target the government has set. Surely the lives of police officers is worth more? As they do work 24/7 even when off duty they still deal with incidents within their own communities and ones they come across.
The government has made an enemy out of the police!!

Can u Please cut down some of the taxes as they are rising up day by day?

Tax,tax and more tax.

We enjoy something beer, fags, holidays etc just an excuse to tax us!! You talk about global warming how about gettin rid of one of your jags?? Like to see you in a two seater smart car.

Boy how I admire the French,if their chancellor had robbed them of vast chunks of their pension pots, then said he had done a prudent thing to strengthen the public finances they would of called a national strike, and the French being the French would of all stuck together and probably he would of got the sack.Sadly us Brits just sit back and allow ourselves to be lectured, that we've never had it so good, whilst at the same time were being hammered with stealth tax after stealth tax.My vote in elections always went to Labour, a bit late I know, but in the words of The Who here'one who Won,t Get Fooled Again .

The Plan to build 3 million properties, is once again a scottish government ruining England. Our green and plesent land destroyed because of a party who does not care for the environment, nature or quality of life but intend on buggering up anthing English.
But then again where is brown going to house all the immigrants, Scotland? nah not a chance. We need an English parliament that this prejudice govermnent is blocking. English Mps should hang their heads low to allow this foreigner to screw up their country. Get him out!!!

The smoking ban has proved a great success. Well done to the Government. The fact that it is widely approved of throughout the country both with smokers and non smokers has helped the smooth transition to clean bars, clubs and restaurants!

With regard to the constitution I thoroughly approve of more flying of the Union Flag but could you also introduce a flag law (like most countries) to stop the defacing of our national flags and let's make sure the UK stays as one proud nation.

Thank you and the Scotish Labour party for being predudice against the English and not allowing them their own parliament, you have the rest of the GB nations have. Let all English support another Scotsman Alex Salmond and SNP for their independence then we'll have our parliment back by default, this is the juste and fair thing to do. C'mon Alex.

Great glorious Gordon! What a great PM you are going to be! You've wiped that smug look of Dave (I'll be left wing this week & back to being ultra right wing next week) Cameron - get an election called & lets finish the tories off for good!!!

Please amend your draconian smoking ban to allow seperate areas in pubs and restaurants for smokers and non smokers. Please also lift the ban on fox hunting and please promise to leave the people of britain alone to live their lives without constant interference from your labour dictatorship.

Dear Prime Minister Brown,
Thank you for increasing my old age pension by £6.00.
Would you explain why my income tax went up by £12.00
Yours
John vans

Some of these comments are rediculous. Give Mr Brown a chance!! I am a proud member of the Labour Party, and of course times have changed, but we are the only party that will fight to help people out of poverty, and look beyond helping ourselves and our family.

Can you expect that from Cameron and his Tories? No. Can you expect that from the Liberals? No. They can say what they want because they're the third party. Give them some power and theyd want more.

At the end of the day I was skeptical when Brown was the only candidate and I had to support him, but from what I've seen so far, I think he is a welcome change from the spin politics we've seen in the Thatcher and Blair years. A generally nice man who wants the best for his country, rather than a presidential figure, looking to be the most powerful individual in the country.

I believe Brown will do good things for Britain and to all those who say there are too many Scots in politics should go out and become politians themselves rather than moan about it!! Maybe Scottish people care more about the future of Britain than English people. Maybe in England we don't appreciate the financial privileges that most have and which Scotland would not if they were independent.

Anyway, good luck to Gordon Brown

The concerning thing about Global Warming is that it will probably never be effectively dealt with by the current labour party. They are far more interested in pursuing policies (both foreign and domestic) that they perceive will make them popular. The benefits of tackling global warming now are not going to be recognised for at least half a century, and therefore will never be a primary target for Gordon Brown's 'PR Obsessed' party.

I strongly urge Gordon Brown to look at the environmental policies of Switzerland and Scandinavian countries; such as charging people for excess garbage and heavy taxation on businesses who pollute the air.
